Mike is currently training to become a qualified coach and in order to facilitate this, he has a standing agreement with the Piltdown shooting club to teach any new joiners to the club and he sometimes coaches at the South of England shooting ground near Findon.

He has a variety of guns to suit all shapes and sizes, including a four-ten over and under for the younger novice shooter and a twenty bore semi-automatic for the more petite ladies. As a rule, Mike will start with pupils as young as eleven or twelve, providing that they are sufficiently developed to support and shoot the weapon safely, that they have a mature enough outlook to understand the safety aspects of the sport and that they conduct themselves in a responsible manner.

The initial part of a lesson is specifically designed to teach gun safety, to identify the master eye, and to ensure that the selected gun is a reasonably good fit. Once the student has been appraised of their shooting knowledge and technique, the lesson can progress to actually shooting at targets. A lesson will generally last about 45 minutes.

Michael is also an English sporting referee and he often can be found refereeing registered shoots at David Peckham’s South of England shooting ground near Findon.

Both experienced and new members are invited to contact Mike with a view to being considered for membership at the Mile Oak Clay Pigeon Shooting Club.

If you are interested in learning to shoot clays or just simply want to shoot a shotgun, then contact Mike for dates and availability.
